Carnelian FAQ
What is the difference between carnelian and sardonyx?
Both are chalcedony. Carnelian is a solid orange-red, while sardonyx shows bands of carnelian alternating with white or dark layers.
Can carnelian go in water?
Yes, brief contact with water is fine. Dry it afterward and avoid prolonged soaking or harsh chemicals.
Is darker or lighter carnelian better?
Neither — colour is down to iron content and preference. Deep red and bright orange are both natural and prized.
